GPP - Educational Program
   

Achieving Millennium Development Goals for Literate Pakistan is the main agenda of the department and its annual strategy is developed based on MGD, Child rights convention and Civic sense. GPP is striving hard to focus this area because it is one of the strong tool to change the mind sets and bring people together for the noble and shared cause.

   
Objectives  
Eradication of illiteracy through formal and informal means for expansion of basic education through involvement of community.
To enhance moral, cultural and spiritual values of education.
To foster basic values such as respect for others, responsibility, solidarity, harmony, tolerance, awareness about rights and obligations, creativity and integrity among children through civic education and Peace through Education programs.
Enhance teaching methodology skills and improve the teacher's content knowledge through teacher's training programs.
To promote decentralization in education system and enhancing role for the community and parents in the management of school by strengthening Parent Teacher Associations.
   
Educational Focus
Education is about to make sure that the next generation will do better than us, making sure that they would have better opportunities, more choices, and greater chances of leading meaningful and, successful future. In this manner, education is the roof of social progress. If we intend to build stronger and wealthier communities and committed to combat evil of poverty and if we are serious for equality, than education is the only way forwarded. GPP rationale for giving the highest priority to education is centered on four main factors.
   
Education is a human right.
Education is an end itself.
The international community has a collective commitment to ensuring human rights and achieving EFA goals.
Education contributes to poverty elimination, effective governance and leadership and the achievement of other development goals.
   
Educational Programs
GPP has initiated educational projects in its emergence and putting all its energies to make it more result oriented. GPP team, by applying PRA tools visits various under developed, slum areas and core of ICT and Rawalpindi to identify areas and children to provide them the best education. The parents and the Madarsa teachers remain the sole stakeholders of sensitization as they play vital role in sending the child to any educational center. GPP has been operating the following educational programs in various parts of ICT and Rawalpindi:
   
BEC, Adult education and CFLS
GPP has good experience in running the Basic Education Centers, Adult education Centers and Child Friendly Learning Space. Child Learning Spaces were of the part of Emergency Phase response of GPP. Following are the details of the said program:

Peace Through Education
GPP has developed an independent manual on peace through education. The teachers are trained on it so that they may incorporate the knowledge among all the beneficiaries. Peace through education focuses how to mange conflict, promote peace and peace games. It also includes the work of people belonging to various faiths and their impact on human society.
   
Civic Education
GPP has hands on experience on civic education and the teachers of centers enjoy this program during class instructions. This program is very interactive and bases on role plays and refreshers. Civic education is a sense to be good citizen by abiding the laws and feeling the sense of responsibility like throwing garbage into dustbin, abide traffic laws, clean streets and home, behave friendly with their family and friends and etc.
   
Teacher Trainings
Evolving curricula, learning materials, instructional methods, and evaluative techniques and working life of the learners Conducting Teacher’s Trainings program on regular basis for enhancing teaching methodology skills to achieve the objectives of quality education.

Before launching any of the said programs, GPP always enhance the capacity of its key stakeholders as they must be sensitized to get the better results of projects. GPP provides trainings to all the teachers regarding teaching, teaching methodology, teaching rules, civic education, peace building and socio- psycho care. Besides this, all the teachers are given the teachers kits.
   
Parent Teacher Association
   
Establishing PTAs for each BECS (Basic education community school) in order to better address communal concerns and enhance coordination between teacher and parents. GPP works with the parents and coordinate with them so that child gets proper education in proper way. GPP is working with 09 PTA’s.
