Published Date : 30 Jun 2014 |
In the wake of military operation in the northwestern tribal area of
North Waziristan Agency (NWA), FATA province, huge influx of people
fleeing from the NWA has resulted in serious humanitarian crises. On 26
June, the Pakistani army also began ground assaults, heightening the
threat to civilians. The region has been targeted with shelling and air
raids, and at least 456,000 people, including nearly 200,000 children
(42%), fled ahead of or during the ground assaults. Priorities for
humanitarian assistance in response to needs include protection, food,
shelter, health, water, sanitation and hygiene. The number of internally
displaced people has already crossed the figure 455,000 with over
110,941 females, 151, 332, children and 92,790 males. Over 380,000
people have been evacuated in a week. Influx of IDPs is likely to
increase in next few days. For this we need more funds, more volunteers and your continued support!
